It is *completely* specific to the mail client. Some do it well, some
not so well, some not at all. You see, only the mail client used to
reply to a message knows the ID of that message at the time to be able
to generate the correct header. Once the reply is sent, then there is no
longer anything connecting the two messages if there are no threading
headers.
