Hello all fellow TBUDL members,

With a heavy heart and tongue in cheek I recently learned of the
arrival and departure of another fellow human being from the Portals
of TBUDL, whose existence here somehow went unobserved by this writer.

>> Did you see how we got rid of that computer expert on the Bat

Douglas> No, I've been swamped. What was his user name?

>> Frank Farance
>> Impressive website, I donot think he is doing anything except sit

I checked it out and have to say that Frank Farance's website
(www.farance.com) didn't impress me. It is filled with a lot of the
"slick insider" hype that many "networking bizness" people in the US
somehow seem to think gives them some advantage over others - which
goes along with the long list of things supposedly wrong with TB that
he flaunted on entering TBUDL, all because it didn't adapt to his
mediocre, shallow and presumptuous preconceptions and assumptions of
how "windows" programs are supposed to be (as if Gates had written a
bible that couldn't be improved on through compatible and/ or
alternative paradigms & programming strategies, when all he did was
steal the bacon from the errand IBM had contracted him to run).

But that kind of thing doesn't threaten me much and I simply find it
kind of pathetic or irrelevant. Nobody who presumes so much without
foundation (or bothering to understand that which he's criticizing)
and who strives so much to impress, has much of a hold on the future.
He may be cashing in somewhere right now, but he would have been
better off asking why things are the way they are in TB, and could
have learned something that way.

Maybe it's due in part to my Belo-Russian / Ukrainian / Lithuaian
decent and/or expatriate condition, but I find TB quite intuitive and
powerful once you get into it a bit. (Sure, there are some things I
would change and that will probably happen, if enough others and the
programmers agree); and TB people are my kind of people, while
Fragrance is no more than a flake. That still doesn't make him seem
very threatening, however - just bland. On the other hand, his use of
jargon did make Alex's response rather funny.

Getting back to his web page, it wasn't particularly well done - it
was sloppy and crude, actually. He's unconscious. It may be the
"corporate culture" shell he encapsulates or is encapsulated in, but
that's a chicken / egg thing anyway.

In conclusion, when someone is that locked into portraying the role of
someone that already knows, he condemns himself to being incapable of
learning anything new.

Therefore, I'm afraid I was unable to do an adequate job of defending
him. Sorry about that.

Best regards,

Douglas
