Hello, fellow Bat-lovers.

The problem I reported six days ago has grown steadily worse.
Tonight, The Bat! became impossible to use. I started with 275
messages to download. The first three times I tried, it hung on the
very first message. It then proceeded to download about 10
messages at a time before generating the above error.

Once I get a FETCH error, it takes anywhere from one to LITERALLY
ten minutes (!) for the Receive dialog to clear so I can try again.
In addition to fetch errors, tonight I have seen numerous EAbort
application errors (which were rare a few days ago. After well over
an hour of this, I am down to 150 messages left to download.

I thought maybe I had a problem with too many messages in my
folders, so, following Steve's lead, I created an Archive account
and copied all nonparked messages out of the Inbox, as well as all
folders associated with active filters. It made no difference. Next,
I disabled all filters. Still no difference.

Looking at the messages the download was hanging on, I saw nothing
in common among them. Syafril said he saw messages with no
attachments but not otherwise empty; I saw none of this. I was doing
nothing, either in The Bat or in other programs, during the
download, and no other applications were running.

I have not received a reply from RIT Labs, and I need a way to
download my mail. Unless someone has another suggestion, I am going
to have to end the experiment and switch software.

While trying to decide on a new client to replace Agent, I also
looked briefly at Becky! Several people on the Becky! mailing list,
including a former TB beta tester, said they had switched to Becky
because TB was unstable. I didn't believe them at the time, but I'm
beginning to think they were right. In addition to this recent
problem, I have had numerous hangs and crashes. I have anxiously
waiting for the bugs to be resolved, and have put off the purchase
for that reason. I had planned to order this past weekend and take
advantage of the Christmas special, which I've now missed. It
depresses me to think that RIT is talking about developing
newsreader and browser addons when the email program still has so
  many problems.

Have any of you registered users had experience with RIT technical
support? Have they been helpful, or have you been left on your own
  to figure things out?

Sorry to have rambled, but I'm pretty upset right now. Does anyone
have any ideas? If not, can you tell me which of TB's great features
I will be giving up to switch to:

  1. PMMail?

  2. Becky!?

  3. Pegasus?

  Thanks for listening....
