    Hold on a minute. You seem to be confusing things there. Once you have
set TB! to do periodic checks, it will do it whether or not a connection
is available.

    The network option "no automatic dial for periodic checking" simply
prevents the RAS from automatically firing up when a periodic check occurs
and there's no active connection to do the check. It's working fine at
this end.
