My guess is that this is deliberate. Those placeholders are for
graphics and other elements that would have to be downloaded from a
Web server, or in some cases possibly for Javascript (?). By not
showing them, The Bat! lets you view the page off line and doesn't
try to download those items.
I like Datula's approach, which is to have both an online and
offline HTML viewing mode. You can choose the former if you are
connected to the Internet and want to view the entire page, or the
latter if you don't want to download those items. At the same time,
Datula disables ActiveX or any other elements that might be
security problems, even in online mode.
