Hello John De Hoog,

On Wednesday, February 02, 2000 at 20:31:54 GMT +0900 (which was
02/02/2000 18:31 GMT +0700 my Local Time) you told to the list:

TF>>>> "Could not connect to server" is quite common when I'm at home.
TF>>>> Yes. TB stops trying after you hit "cancel" once. However, when
TF>>>> you hit "check mail" again, it will resume the normal pattern.

JDH>>> I tried that, but it didn't resume automatic checking at all.

TF>> Weird. I actually use the mouse, and go to the "check mail icon"
TF>> but click on the little down-arrow attached to it. There is a new
TF>> drop-down menu, and on this I hit "check mail for all". Always
TF>> works.

JDH> That's exactly what I did this morning when it happened again,
JDH> but no success. It won't resume automatic checking on any groups
JDH> until I shut down the program and restart.

Sometimes it happen to me for my other account which the mailbox on my
ISP Server. If The Bat! starting to check mail and at the same time
my NAT Server disconnect, the "check mail" menu for that account hang
(also if I hit the cancel button).
This not happen when I am using DUN (at home) or using POP3 Proxy
(couple month ago).

I don't know why The Bat! check mail can't initiate dial of my NAT
Server, but "ping command" can fire up the dialing.

JDH> (I recall someone suggested that The Bat! stopped auto checking
JDH> after around 36 hours of operation. Maybe that's how long it took
JDH> for a server error to stop its routine.)

Januk said that, that's why he ask you to make some test (you're in
lease line connection right ?)

My PC non stop running since last Friday morning (08:00 AM my local
time). I have 2 account auto checking, the one check every 5 minutes
and others every 30 minutes. Till now, I have receive...let me
count...8768 messages (from 2 account), no problem.

Last Monday I have shutdown and restart my (mail) Server for upgrading
some software, also on Tuesday. At that time I saw that The Bat! check
mail and failed, but after the mail server starting up, everything
going normal again.

JDH> Isn't there a setting somewhere for how long to wait until timing
JDH> out when the server won't respond? What puzzles me is why a
JDH> program so far along in development doesn't know enough to give
JDH> up and try again later. Or is it just my ignorance again?
