I had some kind of boot sector virus a couple of years back. Never
noticed it until I spread it to someone with AV software. By then it
was all over the LAN. :-( Made it policy to use AV software in the
office (someone else might spread a more malicious virus), as well as
for myself at home.

Of course. But I cannot avoid opening Excel and Word files, part of my

You are lucky. I don't expect that from my co-workers, though.

So, how much does it really slow down your work? Or is it more a
matter of principle?
