I got "desperate" so I started trawling the archives and found this:

This sounded quite familiar soI am not the only one with this problem under
Windows 2000. A working dirty "fix" for this was also given:

Reading the thread regarding this it puzzles me that only some people
seem to have this problem. Not all with Win2K Pro has it, and for one
person the IP method didn't work.
As far as I can see this is a DNS lookup problem within The Bat! or
something like that, since a plain IP works. I am not an expert, but
this is the only explanation I can find.
