Select the message in question. Hit <SHIFT><CTRL><I> or go to View | Memo
auto-view. Type in the memo that appears and hit the save toolbar button.
Make sure the memo column is visible in the message list.

The filter alternative actions section has an option to change the colour
group.
You may also change the colour groups via the message menus.
