I should have checked (I stayed w/ v 1.39 until now).

You mean that by clicking on the ticker, only those messages visible
according to the ticker's settings (i.e. max age = 12 hr) will be
visible using ctrl+ up or down arrow?

Or by using alt+v+m (as you state below).

Having activated 4 folders on 2 accounts and followed the above
instructions, I see messages from multiple folders within the same
account, but nothing from the other. How many accounts do you use?
(I'm using four at present). Still, I could conceivably open a
message from each of the four accounts, although most filters in the
other 3 accounts are manual only (the exceptions are precisely the
two lists we're both on).

Additionally, it is hard to open a message via the ticker. Perhaps
when I pick up my logitech optical trackball that has the middle
button programmed to double click (the old mechanical version is on
the blink) this will improve.

But the most grave result of running the ticker is that it slows my
system down considerably. And on activating the ticker via
shift+ctrl+t, there is a LONG wait during which TB! does NOTHING
while it counts ALL unopened messages, not only in the TBUDLnew
folder, but also all subdirectories, which are NOT selected for
appearing on the ticker. Since I'm on line, this is a problem for
me.

The principle seems to be working at least at the account level, but
the reference I made was for an account independent virtual viewing
system, which a mailer I used before switching to TB! last year
implements. I could see all incoming mail as it came in (together),
yet answering was directed automatically from the appropriate
account (the active account was also selectable - in view). For
other important reasons, I do not intend to go back to using that
mailer, nor stop using TB!

The main problem is the drag on the resources of this old system
with 1 mb of video ram (upgradable to 2mb total via purchase of a
vesa card - if I can get it, and at what cost?) which slows it to a
crawl.

What I can do is switch off the ticker (which I just did, with a
VERY noticeable reduction in the time taken to display what I type),
open any single message from each account and select a time limit
via the view menu / advanced filtering. That won't give me a way to
see all messages in all ticker selected folders of that account,
unless I open the message via the ticker, THEN turn the ticker off,
and as it stands that is needed mainly just for the one account with
automatically activated filters.

I would still like to see all incoming mail in one inbox with an
account/folder column, but we seem to approaching that. The options
available will have to be studied and experimented with.

Thanks for the pointers.

Douglas
