Hello fellow The Bat User Discussion List members,
Messages that are important to me involve follow up and may come in
in different accounts. The Ticker associated Virtual View Folder
Window is an improvement on jumping around between folders and is
configurable in a number of ways, such as being time limited if
desired. (One annoying "problem" however is the need to configure my
columns bar each and every time I use the Ticker associated Virtual
View Folder. How can I set that once and for all)?
However, the need to follow up on given messages mentioned above
means that the Ticker associated Virtual View Folder does not fully
meet my needs, since only unread messages are shown. While I could
accustom myself to making all messages unread, I don't feel this is
the ideal solution, since the read / unread distinction would be
lost (for whatever that's worth). Also, the inability of the Ticker
associated Virtual View Folder to trigger Priority flags is another
drawback.
At present, the option that comes the closest to providing what I'm
looking for may be the Message Finder, programmed to find all
messages in all accounts within a given time frame. But can that be
done? I'd have to search on something ubiquitous, but several
accounts are involved. Can Regular Expressions be used here(| or &
etc)? Priorities CAN be set via the Message Finder, but the window
is narrow on the right and as far as I'm concerned, a "A Virtual
View Folder Window" option would a welcome addition to TB!, although
the ability to set from it Priorities should be present.
The other option, which I have mentioned periodically since joining
this list, is that of and optional folder column which would
automatically make visible any folder programmed to appear in it
(much as folders are now programmed to appear in the ticker or not).
Since the ticker supports only unread messages, the Ticker
associated Virtual View Folder only begins to support my work habits
/ thought patterns.
An alternative option is habitually marking all messages as Unread
before leaving the the Ticker associated Virtual View Folder,
depending on the flags, colors and memos to signal improtance &/or
the need for follow up (until the ability to set priorities is
added, as it should have been).
