Two ways to bypass this:

1) set the option 'file-attachments are stored' to 'in message
bodies'... it'll enlarge your message-base, but you always have the
attachments right there...

(the option is under the 'files & directories'-tab of the
account-properties...)

2) (this is how i work): use 'subst' to create a virtual-drive
pointing to your message-base-homedir... (for example I:). after that,
set your accounts up using a fixed path, using the I:-virtual drive...
by specifying the correct path for each os, your problems are over :-)
