Stupid me. It turns out the message was correctly colour-marked, but
since it was the last message and the focussed one, it still looked
the same as any non colour-marked message.
I check in Message/Colour Groups/Edit, but couldn't find any option to change
the colours in the focussed message for a specific colour group. Does
this option exist?
