With that and Fedara's advice above, I upgraded to 5.0.36 and -- fingers crossed -- I seem to be okay. Interestingly, an earlier upgrade from version 4.2.42 to version 4.2.44.2 (with, presumably, an updated executable file) did not resolve the issue.
