Hi Allie,

on the desktop":

I would have to disagree with you here. I find that except for a good
word expander, and TB!, I would be totally in Linux now, and I make my
living with my computer. Everything else is available, from CD
burners, Photoshop (Gimp), Winamp, MPEG, voice mail and answering
services, medical dictionaries, you name it. More is coming all the
time. They even have drivers for my WinTV! But no defragger, as you
do not need it, ever! :-) The only thing that is lacking is USB, but
it will be here. I use WordPerfect all the time, and just about
everything else. Stability is everything. Yes, W2K is a big
improvement, but there is a satisfaction of watching your efforts be
rewarded as you build your apps. I would really like TB! though.
Linux just does not have a good mailer. I use Pine and Kmail. If I
could figure out how to use Wine with W2K, I would use TB! in a heart
beat. For info, 40% of all servers use Linux now, as well as 4 million
individuals. The new KDE on Mandrake looks much like the Mac, and the
graphics are superb, only better than the Mac. As I use voice
recognition a lot, I even put in ViaVoice SDK into Linux, and will be
setting that up shortly. As far as stability, I know of several
people who have not shut down or rebooted their distro in several
months (6-9) at least. You just can't do that with Doz.
Bottom line, I really hope Stephen will build TB! for Linux. As there
is not a good one, from a marketing standpoint, he will make a killing
as a double for not only the individual market, but also from a server
market.
