Thanks, Thomas, and to everyone who responded to my query about how to forward messages as attachments. Once explained, it is really simple, but it was a mystery until it was explained.
Since forwarding as an attachment is not how I usually forward messages, I won't be changing the default behavior in the settings, as several suggested; but it is nice to know that is an option.
