        Go into Options | Network and Administration.

        Select 'Dial-up Network connection'.

        /Uncheck/ 'No automatic dial for periodic check'.

        Check 'Use existing dial-up connection if any'

        Configure the retry options etc. You should now be OK, in that
TB! will connect automatically upon sending/receiving/checking mail and
there's no existing connection.

        This is most likely because 'No automatic dial for periodic
check' is selected.
