I bet you've never used Amipro (now renamed to WordPro by Lotus
which acquired it years ago) as wordprocessor, right? I still
remember when I had to switch from Amipro to MS Word, I was so agry
at first for Word never really saved my documents every 10 min. as I
set it up to do. I later realized that the autosave function in Word
was meant only for disaster recovery, when one couldn't save the
documents before quitting. If I close a document without saving it,
all changes made after the last time I manually saved the document
would be lost.

Amipro, instead, worked as TB! does. Its "autosave" was permanent.
So when I quit a document without saving it, what I lost would be
the last 10-min (at most) work.

I would say both approaches have their merits, and it's just a
matter of habits. I was upset at Word for I was used to Amipro's
approach, but after all these years, I no longer do. Yet when I
picked up TB! less than two months ago, I fealt immediately at home
with its autosave function.

I may be wrong since TB! is still quite new to me, but AFAIK,
there's no way to avoid this. It would be nice if it could give
users a choice, though.
