MDP> of ""Corrupt" TBI file -- should I use a backup?":
DH>>>> And the Flagging, color groups, memos, ... are lost!?
MDP>>> It shouldn't be. The TBI files are only the indexes to the mail-base.
MDP>>> They speed up access to the TBB data content. The TBB files are where
MDP>>> the actual data is held.
S>> I'm sure that at least memos are stored in the index files... Probably
S>> the other two are too...
MDP> Well! Now I'm shocked! Memos are indeed stored in the TBI file. Or,
MDP> perhaps, the association of a memo to a message is stored in the TBI
MDP> file alone. That is more likely.
MDP> The other two are *not* held in the TBI. A coloured, flagged message
MDP> with a memo lost the memo after I erased the TBI file and let it

MDP> Well. That's that clarified.
Actually, then the guys original question's answer is YES backup
everything because some data can be lost by removing these index
files, but if one goes bad, you won't loose all your email, just
little notes and stuff on your email.
Luckily I've never had one go bad, but then I do a FULL backup of all
my TB and mail directories now that I am reaching close to having my
first 10,000 messages in TB. Since were running beta, we should have
a backup. I remember back when the message base changed, and many
were told to backup first. There were some minor horror stories, all
coming from people who didn't have an original backup.
