... I remembered the previous occurrence. I also remember the
"egg-on-face" experience it was for you at that time.

I recommend using purge / compress once in a while and setting outbox
for auto purge/compress.
WOW! I just had a shock! I browsed deleted messages in my outbox ...
Hundreds of them !!! I've just changed my outbox settings for purge /
compress.
So, by allowing TB to reconstruct the outbox index it is likely that
many un-purged messages came back into existence, especially if you
practiced (as in this instance) "recontructus interruptus" <g>.
