Hi Martin,
On 01 August 2000 at 14:13:31 GMT +0200 (which was 13:13 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points on the subject
of "Automatic search for names in the sender field":
MS> Is there a possibility that the names in the "To:" field are
MS> automatically shown from the address book (like in Netscape
MS> Messenger)? If I type a part of a e-mail-address that is unique,
MS> then "The Bat!" don't show me the full e-mail-address
MS> automatically. That really is a pity because I really enjoyed that
MS> feature in Netscape messenger.
MS> For example: if I have a user "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and its name is
MS> Testuser then TB don't show me the whole e-mail-address when
MS> typing "tu". But when I am typing Testuser it shows all. Also it
MS> would be nice if TB would automatically extend the e-mail
MS> automatically with the domain of the account if a domain is
MS> missing in the address.
TB *will* auto-complete addresses from the address history list. To
complete names from the address book, press Ctrl-Plus.
MS> Also a pity is that the address book doesn't automatically jump to
MS> the search field when I press "Shift-Return" in the To-field. And
MS> when I have found the person I can't add it automatically to the
MS> To-field by pressing Return (or Ctrl-Return). I have to press
MS> Shift-Tab (that the cursor jumps in the adress-field) and then
MS> press Return. That really are too much keystrokes for that. So, I
MS> really would appreciate if there would come some changes.
Perhaps here TB is too mouse-centric. Many of the keystrokes are
perhaps too complex for the simpler tasks. The developers are
currently working on V2 in which it is intended to implement definable
keys.
MS> Okay, that have been my technical questions. Now I would like to know
MS> two different things:
MS> 1. When I register, for which versions is the key valid? Is it
MS> valid for every future version or only for the 1.x or 1.4x?
MS> (Sorry, I didn't find anything on the homepage!)
Your key is likely to be valid for all 1.xx releases.
MS> 2. What will be the new features of V.2 and when it will be released.
Many and varied. The most notable are definable key-mappings, support
for plug-ins and (hopefully) support for external editors. I think
that the best place to find out about what features are slated for V2
is here: http://www.pcwize.com/thebat/interview.shtml. A release date
is not even anywhere near the surface right now. We anxiously await
early alphas to start testing. My gut instinct says it's going to be a
month or two before we see a version for public testing.
