Hi Ming-Li,

On 08 August 2000 at 18:33:18 GMT -0700 (which was 02:33 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points on the subject
of ""Huh? I don't own this mailing list!"":

>> Is there a way to switch off that feature in a particular folder to
>> reduce confusion? i.e. To becomes: Fred's Mailing List
>> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and no specific names.

ML> Put the following line in the Reply template for the folder, and
ML> you're set.

ML> %TO=""
ML> %TO="Fred's Mailing List <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"

OTOH IMHO Specific names are absolutely correct since, right now, I am
replying to Ming-li's message and my reply is to Ming-li why should
the address /not/ reflect that?

While I accept [EMAIL PROTECTED] is certainly *not* Ming-li's
(nor Deryk Lister's) address, I do not accept that I have no right to
use the real-name text to more accurately target my intended
recipient.

So I use a more exacting construct (as do many others here who were
around first time we had the conversation):

%TO=""%TO="""%OFROMNAME on TBUDL"" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>". This
promotes clarity while not claiming that the address is that of the
individual for whom the message is intended.
