This is your ticket for the ORBS/MAPS/RBL/etc. Is this your SMTP
server? Else I'm going to report it to the head of abuse dep in our
NOC.

To the original question. When you're connected to the internet you've
got an IP that is unique. It's assigned to a provider (query the ARIN,
APNIC, RIPE etc. for it). You can at 99,9% use the SMTP of this
provider w/o things like POP-before-SMTP or SMTP AUTH even if your
company/university doesnt want you to do it. If you have a sample
Internet IP address (not RFC1918-hosts!) then simply (under DOS) enter
"nslookup <yourIP>". this will give you the reverse name. Then you dig
it into the MX seeker (nslookup, then querytype=MX) and it tells you
your SMTP server :) If this sounds too complicated, feel free to drop
me an offlist eMail and I'll gladly try to helpy you to find the SMTP.

Cheers,
 Johannes mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
