Here is a cut and paste of the last answer I sent to someone on this,
and they said it worked for them.

Unfortunately, this is a problem not with The Bat!, but with OE. When
you install OE it asserts its association with .EML files. When you
install The Bat!, it also asserts its association with .EML files.
This is the normal way of Windows. New software associates itself with
the filetypes it deals with.
The problem is that OE does not detect that it has lost the
association, and therefore never tries to reassert those associations.
For instance, if you load IE5, it asserts associations with .htm,
.html etc. When you then later install, for instance, Netscape, then
Netscape takes over those associations. However, in this case,
whenever you remove Netscape, and begin using IE again, it detects the
loss of associations and asks if you would like to make IE the default
browser again (which re-associates the filetypes.) OE doesn't do
this, and I have no idea why. I guess they figure that they are the
only game in town and nobody else would use the .EML extension.
You might try this.
- Open a folder on your hard drive.
- Select View then Folder Properties from the menu bar.
- Choose the File Types tab.
- Scroll down until you see Internet E-mail Message
- Click it once, then hit the Edit button.
- In the Actions box, select Open, then click the Edit button
- Use the Browse button to locate the OE executable, then click OK
- Click OK again, and again, and again
******
Cheers,
Leif Gregory
