I'm an unregistered user of ver 1.45. I have been reasonable impressed with
TheBat!, but there are a few things that are REALLY bothering me. If I
can get these problems worked, I REALLY want to buy this program.
Maybe someone can tell me how to fix them:
1) Is there no NewMail indicator? I see the animated icon and the
Ticker - but they are triggered by Unread mail, not NEW mail. If I
already have some unread messages (I always have some!), then I will
not have any indication that a new message was just downloaded (other
than a sound, if that is enabled and I happen to be in the room).
2) Why can't I rearrange the order of my folders? They appear in the
order that they were created, and I can't fugure out how to
re-order them.
3) I can't find a "view source" function. I see that I can view the
RFC-822 headers - that is good. But I'd like to be able to view the
entire raw data of any message. Is that possible? Every other mail
reader that I've used has that ability.
4) the built-in html viewer doesn't seem to work very well?
I get weather reports and comics and such from infobeat.com.
They come in HTML form. TheBat can't seem to render the files.
Why? Netscape mail, Eudora, OE, all render those messages just fine.
5) Is the toolbar configurable? I can't see how to do it.
That's it. I really DO like this tool. I LOVE the strong filtering
(it is at least as good as the Eudora filtering). The whole template
thing is VERY cool. Eudora can't even spell "template". :)
I'm guessing that I have not been using TheBat long enough - that some
of you experts can answer these questions. The lack of a NewMail
indicator, and the HTML viewer problem might be show-stoppers (if I
can't figure out what I'm doing wrong).
Please help this newbie. :)
