Personally I'm not fond of colour coding. However, flags are essential
for me. I'm on about 12 maillists, receiving about 400 mails daily.
For each maillist, I have a folder. In each maillist, there are
several contributors who I never want to miss out on. So, I have a
filter set up that adds a flag to each message posted by one of my
favourite contributors.
Then, whenever I open a folder filled with dozens of new posts, all I
need to do is press the flag column heading -- and presto! all the
posts from my favourite people are aligned at the top of the folder so
that I can browse through them quickly without having to wade through
lots of other boring stuff. ;-)
