Hi jbelk,
I like the image of little robots marching to your orders, to and from
the mailbox, presenting you with little packets of letters, tearing up
junk mail... :)
but your analogy isn't quite right. Let's imagine that there are as
many robots as there are filters. The way you describe it, it seems
that you picture an army of robots going to the mailbox and looking at
mail *simultaneously*. This just isn't the case.
You set your filters up in order: the first filter listed under the
Incoming Mail folder in the Sorting Office is Robot #1, the second
filter listed is Robot #2, and so on. Robot #1 examines all the mail
and takes what belongs to him and leaves the rest. Then, in turn, all
the other robots examine the remaining mail and remove what belongs to
them. Like an upside down pyramid: each robot examines a progressively
smaller number of emails. The last robot only sees whatever hasn't
been picked up by other robots. That's why your spam filter should be
at the bottom of the Incoming Mail filter list. And yes, whatever
isn't grabbed by any of the robots goes to your Inbox.
That is the *basic* way it works (as I understand it). If you *want*
mail that belongs to Robot #1 *also* to be examined by the following
robots, you can configure The Bat! to do this by selecting the
"Continue processing with other filters" option in the Sorting Office.
But for your purposes, as you've described them, I suspect you will
want to ignore this option, and leave it unchecked.
Hope this helps...
