Ameng, PGP and S/MIME are two different systems for encoding
transmissions over the internet.  You should have EITHER PGP or S/MIME
checked, not both.

Unlike PGP, S/MIME requires you to obtain a certificate from a CA
(Certificating Authority) before you can encode messages.  The best
known of these is Thawte, but it is not the only CA by far.

PGP doesn't require the same sort of certification and IMO is easier
to use.

Why use S/MIME? Well, there are a number of programs out there that
support S/MIME but not PGP.  Using the S/MIME facility in TB means
that a message can be verified.

PGP has its own version of S/MIME called PGP/MIME.  At this time the
only program that can take advantage ofit is Eudora, so it is better
to leave this unchecked in the PGP tray options.
