Yeah. If you simply type the group name, TB! checks the address book and
if there's such a group, <list> is appended to the group name
automatically. So is I type 'tbudl' and move to another field the To
field info changes to 'tbudl <list>'. If a corresponding list handle
name isn't found, then TB! will protest when you try to send the
message.

Maybe what Jim is doing wrong is entering the group name instead of the
group handle name.
