A similar sort of thing happened to me as well. A shareware author sent
me his software by e-mail and I accidentally deleted it. I asked him to
resend it and he initially didn't comply. :-(

Well, what I did was to first consider what messages comprised the bulk
of my e-mail. For me this is mostly discussion list mail that doesn't
carry attachments. I therefore enable the delete from server options in
those filters.
If your customer service messages don't carry attachments, is there a
filter specifically for them? You could create one and make these
messages deleted on the server.
It shouldn't take many filters to cut down your messages to 30-50
instead of 200-300, should it?
