Hi Michal,

On 25 October 2000 at 11:31:08 GMT +0200 (which was 10:31 where I
live) Michal Kozusznik wrote and made these points on the subject
of "mail threading rules":

MK> Like in the subject: What rules the mail threading use?

Two specific headers give the threading information in "thread by
references" mode. "In-reply-To:" contains the Id of the message to
which a message is a direct reply. The "References:" header contains
the Ids of all previous messages in the immediate reply chain.

Perhaps the "In-reply-To" is missing.

If a message is removed from the thread or a root message is missing,
the threading can be messed up easily.

The best threading is threading by references. Better still would be a
synthesis of both methods, but this is not available.
