Well, a text editor that doesn't care for the binary codes could do
it. (Most of a .tbb file is in plain text, blended with some binary
data.)

If you like, you may also create a batch file that would export all
your mail (or only folders you need) to text files, and execute it
before leaving. Or you may set up filters to export mail to Unix
Mailbox files upon receiving.
