If you mean 10s of thousands of messages across folders and
accounts, then TB certainly handles that with ease.

If you mean in one folder, then I usually don't put that many
messages in one folder for I have an relatively old computer (4+
year old, 200MHz, 96 MB RAM), and too many messages in one folder
does slow things down.

I do, however, have a folder with 11-thousand-plus messages. It does
take two or three seconds to open that folder (all other folders are
almost instant), but I wouldn't say it's grinding to a halt.
