Hello lilithmara & other fellow TB! Users,
Saturday, November 18, 2000, you stated:
lan> And can I get an option to disable AUTOCOMPLETE EVERYWHERE!!, I
lan> don't want it anywhere
That's a reasonable request, but I don't have the answer (someone
else will though). What I will say is that the auto-complete seems
to put whatever was done last, in response to what one types. The
important thing is that whatever is being added is SELECTED so that
if you don't want it, just keep typing and it will disappear.
In the case you describe, a simple space added would effectively
erase the "sexy", although you do have to keep that it mind.
I believe that TB! is for people accustomed to thinking about what
they're doing, which many don't like to or aren't used to doing. TB!
provides more options, does different things and it does them in
different ways, so one really has to be in basic agreement w/ the
paradigms and concepts in order to be happy with it. Maybe no one is
100% satisfied - but the developers are quite receptive to feedback
(something rare, in itself).
If you don't get an answer, re-post or try Help / Feedback. (The
help file is not so great. You can't really search on
"auto-complete". All you get is a general theme: "Using the Message
Editor" in this case, with no way to search within that as far as I
know. TBUDL is the real help file).
I just accidentally hit the shift key and got a line w/ all caps.
With TB! they were back to size in a flash (an example of TB!
strengths).
lan> If I send a message to my girlfriend with the subject "Hello
lan> sexy", and then to my boss, with the subject of "Hello", and
lan> start typing away & press send, my boss gets a nice letter
lan> saying "Hello sexy". That's really stupid, and bad.
Have you tried it? (You never know - you might get an unexpected
raise - or get asked out to dinner).
lan> It is a pain in the ass ... PLEASE LET ME TURN IT OFF!!
You mean help you do that. OK, I looked for a way to do it but
haven't found it yet. (I hope someone can help her, if that's what
she wants). But don't forget how auto-complete works - it's not hard
to correct what it does.
