Many thanks. Tried it eagerly -- unfortunately the
response I got was "0 lost folders found."

If it's of any help in reasoning through this, TB was
installed in my D drive in my old machine. I moved it
to my C drive in my new machine, followed Marck's
instructions and Rob's comments re: creating
thebatcu.reg and thebatlm.reg files, edited them to
change all references to D:\\ to C:\\ and ran them on
the new system. That got me my mailboxes back, but no
folders, subfolders, filters, or archive messages.

And now the SHIFT-CTRL-ALT-L trick doesn't find them. A
good try, but . . . Any other suggestions?

Nope, they're not. The old one is truly old, and I'll
be giving it away once I'm solidly established in the
new machine.

Thanks again,
