Correct. The temporary directory is for tempoerary files. I wouldn't
want TB to create its own temp dir.

No; I have this all the time. I think if there is a download failure
and the messages don't get improted, then they will not be deleted. I
think this is by design, and I think it is good.

Every now and then, I empty my temp folders, as other applications
leave droppings there, too. And when I want to virus-scan an
attachment before opening it, I save it to the temp folder as well.
