I don't know about Hotmail or other web-based accounts, but Yahoo has
POP3 & SMTP settings you can use without the inconvenience of a
third-party app.  Just use:

pop.mail.yahoo.com  POP3
smtp.mail.yahoo.com SMTP

Or go to Yahoo mail on the web, go to Options, and then go to POP
Access & Forwarding.
