Thanks for the info :) I guess I'd better be content with threading by
subject...

But here's another problem I ran into regarding this same thing. I use
a filter which assigns a color group to the messages I receive from or
send to this friend, and copies them to my "conversation" folder. The
originals in the sent and inbox folders get the proper color, while
the copies in the conversation folder are uncolored. In fact I'd like
to see this in reverse (originals black, copies colored).
