collective wisdom:

J> Earlier I sent a message asking for help but had not read the full
J> rules of posting here. I shouted in the Subject Line and now I
J> understand I ought to have written *help*. Please accept my
J> appologies. Now that I know better, I will repost in the proper
J> form.

That's OK Jan. Welcome to the list. :-)

J> Today I had to reinstall theBat and by accident when the pop-up
J> window asked if I wanted to delete my mail folders, I must have
J> said yes. Sadly, I have not backed up any of these and now they are
J> gone. Is there any way to get them back?

Ouch!!

The only thing that could possibly save you is an application with an
undelete feature (anyone have any of these utilities to suggest?). It
will search your disk for deleted stuff and, just maybe, your deleted
folders have not yet been overwritten by other stuff.

J> Also, when I click on the hyperlink in messages, theBat does not
J> engage my browser. This is why I reinstalled, thinking that
J> something wasn't configured properly. Now theBat will not open up
J> my browser and I have to "copy" and "paste". Over the long hall
J> this is going to be extremely annoying. What do I do?

Are you clicking or double clicking. With TB! you have to double click
on the links. If you're double clicking and things are still not
working, go into the Windows control panel and open the internet
options. Go to the 'programs' tab and check if 'The Bat!' is selected
under the 'e-mail' option. If not, select it and apply the change.
That should do it.

J> Lastly, these problems all started because I was having difficulty
J> getting mail from my Yahoo! account. Everything was working fine,
J> but yesterday for some unknown reason, theBat would not download
J> them to my desktop. I have asked Yahoo! for help but have not
J> received a reply. I asked my ISP if they started blocking external
J> mail accounts but they said No. What gives? I am truly having a
J> major, problem day and need to fix this somehow.

This problem could easily have nothing to do with your setup. These
free services tend to be problematic at times.

J> By the way, I am not all that clear on what happens after I send
J> this. Does it go to the main discussion group and someone answers
J> if and when they have seen this;

Each member is sent a copy of the message. If they read it and wish to
reply, they post their response which is again distributed to all
members.
