I found the problem; it has nothing to do with TB!, but with resource
handling by Opera. sometimes it seems to have difficulties acting as
it should under Windows.

I just tumbled into the same problem again. I now have different AB's
that reflect (partly) the older group system I had. Within some of
these AB's there still exist groups (for mass mailings mainly). Now
what I want is to have the entry in the root of the appropriate AB -
let's call it "Private" - and a reference to it (within TB!'s system
it would be a copy) in one or two of the groups below it - i.e.
"Funny" and "Virus Warning".
Now, if I copy an entry from the group where it resided before and
paste it into the root I can't see it, since the group properties have
"Hide" checked - and for good measure.
OK, and now I see the conceptual problem: TB! cannot know if the entry
actually resides in the root and has just references in the groups.
Bringing me to a feature I'd like to see, instead of copies in the
groups I really want references ("shortcuts", "links"), so that I can
hide certain entries - those that are stored in the group, and see
others.
<side note>
If I would take anything, now would be the time to stop it. sorry to
say, I am not on any medication ... well, perhaps I should start ...
the last days seem not to be that good, especially concerning
software, particularly TB!.
OK, hand over those coloured pills.
