In my experience (Opera 5.11 on Windows 95) the JS troubles with Opera
usually come from badly written JS code. It seems that IE has no
problem with non-closed tags, which Opera and NS do not tolerate. With
Opera you will at least get a warning (if enabled), NS may not even
show the site correctly.
Since NS is the inventor of JS, one can say that they do it right. I
don't know about the implementation of Mozilla, but it is, AFAIK,
a direct descendant of NS.
I remember difficulties with Java for previous versions of Opera. You
know that it uses the original engine and runtime from Sun, so Opera
was more right than IE or programmers making their sites only
IE-viewable.
BTW, I have great difficulties with Opera 5.12, crashing very often,
so I reverted to 5.11 (now with the newest JRE). Do you have any
experiences with the new Opera version?
