Hi there, been a looong time since I read this list. In short, I sue TheBat, it works, so I rarely stick my neck up on this list. Keep meaning to unsub but don't. Well, I'm back with a new question, is there any chance that TheBat will ever support the undocumented but generally widely implemented POP3 XTND XMIT function to allow sending of email? Its not like its a difficult thing to do, as the procedure for sending such email is very similiar to sending email via SMTP. While it is true that there is no REQUIREMENT for POP servers to support this function, every POP server I have ever used does support the function. Some documetation on this function can be found in the following internet draft - http://www.emaillab.org/emailref/internet-drafts/draft-hansen-pop3-xtndext-00.txt I can only assume it was never made into an RFC due to the mistaken beleif that SMTP authentication would become the predominate method of mail delivery and there would be no need for this functionality. With many major providers now blocking port 25 for systems off their network (http://news.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-5531362.html?tag=mn_hd) and many people who maintain webhosts outside of our ISP's, adding support for this feature would be a big help. Sorry if this has been discussed before. -- Best regards, Gary mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- ______________________________________________________ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] You are subscribed as : [email protected]
