Maybe you can do it semi-automatic with some filters, but I think
doing it by hand is far quicker. I always do it manually.

I create a subfolder for e.g. August and in the properties of that
folder I click 'Use the account default column settings'. Then I move
all the messages, starting from the first thread that started on
August 01 to the last thread started on August 31, to that folder
(using CTRL+* and selecting all the messages and then CTRL+M).
