I believe that, in TB!, an identity *is* an account. I think the way to do what you want to do is (1) to create the two accounts, and then (2) to create one group comprising the two accounts (Options/Network/Groups). If you open TB with the group name, both accounts will appear. You can check mail for both accounts/identities at the same time. The mail compose window will default so the sender is the identity of the account holding the focus when you started the procedure, but you will be able to click and select the other one if you wish.
