Hmm, I just had a look into control Panel/Country Settings/Time. There
are dropdown lists to "choose" time formats and symbols for AM/PM
times. Well, there should be ...

On my machine - which runs German Win95 - there are several time
formats to choose from but no symbols, indicating that time formats
are more or less hard coded into Win9x.

A few weeks ago I updated my system with the EURO patch. Before, I had
a look into the currency settings and was surprised to only find "DM".
After the EURO patch I found "DM", "�" and the symbol for British
Pounds. I remember that with Windows 3.xx one always had the option
to choose between at least country specific currency and American
Dollar, and European time format (24 hours) and Anglo-American time
format (AM/PM) ...
