I don't think so. My point is that I can use the middle mouse button
the usual way, everywhere else in Windows. If you use the intellimouse
software, you've bound the middle mouse button to F4 which is really
only useful to you when replying to mail.

The other thing is that being able to simplify repetitive tasks into
one keystroke, mouse movement or a combination of the two is the
natural way to go if you're willing to learn how and use the relevant
software. PowerPro is a good example of software that service these
other needs as well. The beauty of it is that defining each keystroke
doesn't have to be system wide. It can be application specific.

What does seem like a sledgehammer to me is to install separate mouse
driver software to do one thing. Note that your mouse will work
without intelli-mouse software installed. :-) If you install it just
to get the F4 working *system wide* with the middle mouse button while
you can install something else and get a lot more functionality, then
the choice seems clear to me. :-)

After all that's said, YMMV. To each his own.
