Actually I can't really remember. I just opened the file in my hex
editor and searched (by hand, I believe) for the version string. Then
I changed it, watching out not to change anything more - i.e. the size
of the file.

i don't see a problem. If you mean the changed sig delimiter, that's
made by PGP so not to confuse any decrypting or verifying operation.

Have a look at the FAQ; there is, I think, a very good RegExp for this
purpose.
