Hello Randy, On 8 Dec 2001 at 17:20:49 you wrote (at least in part):

I have no Netscape installed to check and verify your statement, but if that is true Netscape must be configured to use any other login than plain text. Otherwise Username & Password _will be_ visible in packets sniffed. I've done packet sniffing for my self already and I do know e.g. Ethereal (FN:http://www.ethereal.com#) is capable of 'decoding' IMAP sequences, so if there is a plain text login it can be seen. I have currently no IMAP server installed as I had to rebuild my system I did not need IMAP till this time. As I final a bigger project next week I'll have some spare time again and set up a local IMAP server and test with it's login facilities to be able to tell you what may cause you don't see clear text logings if Netscape connects your server. If you could tell me what IMAP server you're running I could try to get as close to your conditions as possible. As we're moving straight toward OT I'd suggest continuing this discussion on TBTECH or PM :-) Have a nice weekend Pit -- Regards Peter Palmreuther mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (The Bat! v1.54 Beta/14 on Windows NT 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 1) A relationship is like a shark.
