If I want to delete all messages in a folder I press Ctrl-A to select them all and then the Delete button. However, I noticed that they are not deleted in one go. I have to repeat the process several times before all messages (they usually total over 100) are deleted from the folder. If it's any significant, the messages are sorted in the folder in threaded view.
