Hello TBUDL, Hi Folks,
I am new to the Bat and am trying to figure out how to do a few things. I've been going through the help files and archives and I am completely mystified and rather frustrated. The only features I really wanted from this program was the ability to password protect my mail from other computer users, and relief from the way Netscape often crashes my email. 1) Whether I want it or not, this program wants me to send mail, which, as you see, say "Hello _(name/email addy)_" and "Best regards," I have already tried making a blank page for a template and using that (via Accounts) however the program insists on this one. As I did not originally set a template when I set up the program, I am confused where it found this default template (it is not under quick templates) and how to kill it. This is making me a bit batty, as I do not speak this way, and I would rather personalize the letters with the name of the person as I speak to them. For instance, my mother and her husband are on my buddy list, and if I let the Bat have its way, her mail will say, "Hello Elga and Bill" Most often, I want it to say, "Hi Mom," but sometimes, "Hi Mom and Bill" and occasionally, "Hi Bill." I don't see a need to write a template for this. I would rather just do it myself. Frankly, I am not a fan of programs that think they're smarter than me, and what I really want is just a blank letter with my mail to address at the bottom and nothing more. And for replies, just "_name_ wrote" and their message text. It is a giant pain in the neck to edit it after the Bat puts all that garbage in. 2) How do I word wrap messages while I am replying to them so that I can read the darned letter while I am reading? Thanks! Lionrhod -- Best regards, (sheesh!)
